Arete SL

The Arete SL is pretty much the same as the Arete, except we use a slightly ‘better’ tubeset and offer you a broader range of tasty options. Where the Arete is your more everyday steel frame, the Arete SL is bred for racing – go fast, eat goo, get tunnel vision at 180bpm type stuff.

Now, we realise that’s not everyone’s cup-of-tea, so we can definitely skew the design to be more ‘trailbikey’, but the use of ultra-thin tubes makes the Arete SL more suitable for racing and those of us with a bit more finesse.

It’s not the lightest XC racing frame you can get, but then again it’s not hard to build this puppy into a 22lb rocket either. If you just can’t get past that zippy zingy zoom feeling of a kick-bum steel bike, and you couldn’t give a rats’ proverbial if it’s a couple of hundred grams heavier than Aluminium, this is your bike.

Creature Features at a glance –

  • Powdercoat by Spectrum Powderworks or PPG wet paint
  • Fusion welded seattube insert for trouble free seatpost adjustments
  • No chainstay cross-brace improves mud clearance and eliminates stress-risers

  • Many more tubing options available, otherwise the Arete is manufactured to the same quality as the SL. NO SHORTCUTS!
  • PPG wet paint available as a no cost upgrade.
  • Arete SL is not really suitable for S&S Coupler or racks. If you want to go touring, the Arete is the one you want.
  • The Arete SL is about 75g (2.6oz) lighter than the Arete
