Tephra
Tephra SL
The Tephra SL is all about the ride. Sure, Aluminium is lighter,
titanium has the ‘wow’ factor, and carbon is popping outta moulds all
over China like popcorn, but nothing quite has the seat-of-the-pants
feel of steel.
Steel feels alive. As you put the power down, the frame winds up like a
spring and launches you forward. As you zoom along, each undulation
greets you with a zing and a buzz; each corner registering in your
senses as if you’re part of the road itself.
Okay, that sounded a bit wanky, but the essence is still very much
true. People who ride steel bikes ride them for a reason, and it ain’t
nostalgia because there’s nothing nostalgic about a TIG welded frame
made from cutting edge steel. It’s as hi-tech and as modern as it gets.
The reason steel bikes are still around and have a cult like following
is, quite simply, the ride. There’s nothing like it.
